 Arthritis means inflammation of one or more joints-which may be acute or chronic. In arthritis - there is, severe swelling redness of skin, and pain in 3 joint. In chronic arthritis -there is little pain and swelling in a joint. In chronic cases the term arthritis is used as arthritis deformans in which bones are defermed, bent and turned to other directions. The term chronic arthritis is also applied for gout or gouty arthritis with pain and restriction of motion in most of the cases, it becomes chronic, and involves, various joints, synovial Membrane, cartilages, ligaments and bones, it also becomes complicated when heart, glands, liver, spleen, are involved which play their part in various sensation and modalities. Thus digestive system and illfunctioning of its organs, are actually the causes of this disease to develop.

 Causes

 About 80 reasons and diseases cause arthritis, some of them are mentioned below: Hereditary causes, high living, sedentary habits of working, living in damp houses, use of alcohol, exposure of hot body with cold rain when a man is under the grip of alcoholism, excessive deposition of calcaria salts and urates in the joints. The diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, ricket tuberculosis and other infections-such as syphilis, gonorrhoea, suppressed eczema, etc. also create arthritic-symptoms. Rickets, mal-growth in bone ends, abuse of eating medicines having mercury preparation, synovitis, due to lack of synovial fluid in the bursa of a joint-also become the causes of chronic arthritis

 Bursa is a fibrous sac or capsule lined with synovial membrane. This synovial membrane secretes a fluid "synovia" called synovial fluid and remains collected in the bursa. This bursa containing synovia, lies or occurs between two surfaces or where two parts move over one another, i.e.  (1) between joints of the body. (2) between tendon and bone. (3) between skin and bone and (4) between muscle and muscle. The colourless, thick synovial fluid which is a lubricating fluid, always surrounds a joint. The bursa helps to reduce friction between joints and facilitates easy movements between two surfaces. Bursae are formed around joints and do dot cover the joint cavity or articular surface .
